Letter to Pastor Rolly on the First Anniversary of Dasal Baptist Church

Wednesday, June 06, 2012

To my beloved brothers and sisters at Dasal Baptist Church:

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ . . . For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:3–8, ESV)

What an amazing work God has done in this last year in Salincob/Dalumpinas!  After years of serving Christ, my brother Rolly has been by God's grace directed to his own community.  With his supportive and godly wife, Marilyn, we have had the joy of seeing our Lord take from His own resources and plant a vibrant, growing Church.   We have seen the love and mutual care within its members.  We have witnessed the ordination of leadership.  Now we have watched with great admiration the establishment of a building – a building that speaks of the excellence and goodness of God.  With David I say, “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.” (1 Chronicles 29:10–13, ESV)

On behalf of Elk Point Baptist Church we praise God and bless all of you at Dasal Baptist Church on this first and momentous anniversary.   You will never know the affection we have for you and the tears that come even as I remember your love and kindness to us.  Please understand with the greatest of sincerity that we love you in the Lord; we long to see you again; and we are fully confident that He who started this work will cause it to grow to the glory of His Son and our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ; and for the eternal happiness of the people of Salincob/Dalumpinas.   Our prayer with the Apostle Paul is "that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11, ESV)

Until next time and by His grace alone,

Pastor Jim
